In August 2023, we were introduced to Dan Kruse about building our dream home. We couldn't be happier with the final product.

Every person Dan introduced to us along the way to make selections and our dream possible were knowledgeable and provide superior guidance and service. While everyone was great - we would remiss if we didn't give two giant shoutouts to our electrician, Nick, and the trim carpenter team led by, Cory. Their craftsmanship skill, care, guidance, and ability to make ideas a reality is above anyone we've worked with in the past.

The folks Dan uses are amazing, but we can’t say enough about the level of service and care that Dan poured into this effort. Dan is super responsive and took care of each question along the way. And while Dan is excellent with all the things you want in a developer and contractor, he’s also just an all-around great person.

Honestly, we weren't even planning to build a house! But our first meeting with Dan Kruse assured us that this was OUR project, and he was here to guide us. We truly enjoyed the entire process!

Kruse Development's base floor plans provide a perfect starting point and offer tremendous flexibility. We were able to customize our house to center on our lifestyle with an emphasis on gardening, outdoor space, and exercise. The SW facing bedroom became a sunroom with expansive windows. The basement space that would traditionally house two bedrooms became a large, rubber-floored workout space. And it was great to see Dan's landscaper so excited about our over-the-top garden and backyard landscaping. He was so proud of his work he'd send us drone shots of the progress at the end of day!

The quality of Kruse's subcontractors and Dan's coordination of the various trades shaved weeks off our completion date. There was never a lost day during construction. One sub would finish up and the next one would be there the following morning.

I recommend building with Kruse Development without hesitation.

When my husband and I finally pulled the trigger to build a house we searched high and low for a "bring your own" builder lot in the metro because we knew the only person we wanted to build our house was Dan Kruse. I am also lucky enough to call him my cousin which made this entire experience even more special.

I had a very specific vision and he did everything possible to make sure we got what we wanted with our house. We can’t say enough amazing things about Dan Kruse and his team! From start to finish his team communicated well and truly listed to the dreams we envisioned for our home. We started our build in March of 2020 and were moved in by August of 2020. There are very few contractors that can build the quality of home that he built for us in that efficient of a timeline. My husband and I were looking to build and my friend recommended contacting Dan. I'm so glad we did! I've heard it is very hard to find a builder who cares and who actually contacts you back, but we had zero issues with communication with Dan from start to finish. Dan has been great to work with through the entire process. We even ended up switching lots after we had started the process with him on the first property. Dan was nothing but understanding and patient throughout this. He made the entire process smooth and when any issues came up he was quick to resolve them. Not many builders would take the time or care enough to put in the effort he does. My husband and I moved in to our new house a couple weeks ago and are very happy with our home. I would definitely recommend Kruse Development if you are thinking about building.

It has now been nearly 2 years since we built, and moved into our home and we couldn’t be happier with it. Dan and all of his crew were great to work with and more importantly the quality of their work is outstanding. When my husband and I decided to build, we asked our realtor for recommendations on builders. We wanted something affordable, but also good quality. Dan Kruse is who she recommended and we are so happy she did. At inspection our inspector even gave us a discount because he said he knew he wouldn’t be finding any issues with our home and that this was the most structurally sound home he would be looking at all day. As Dan mentions in his home warranty as your home settles over the course of the year things might pop up, very minimal things popped up in year 1, but Dan and his crew were great about getting out here to address whatever we needed.

After looking into several builders and already built homes in the Des Moines area, we decided to work with Kruse Development. Our experience was great! We were allowed to pick out every aspect our home from drawing up the plans to finishing touches. We were kept in the loop on all decisions and were felt free to ask any questions along the way. We were also allowed to visit the build site by appointment. When time for closing came, Dan and crew were able to finish the house early as we need to move out of our previous sooner than expected. Follow up after the move in has also been easy. Dan and his team are always respond quickly to concerns and anything that needs attention. We highly recommend Kruse Development! Dan and his team truly build a custom home that you will love! Anytime we asked about a “small detail” idea… Dan would would usually reply that they already did that! (ex: lights for stairs, extra room insulation, automatic lights, etc). The vendors he works with are top notch! Nick and Cory are truly experts at their craft. We had zero stress over what they did and they were fast (and amazing) at doing things!

To say we are absolutely blown away by Dan and Kruse Development would be an understatement, as someone who once worked with multiple builders I can confidently say that Dan and his team are TOP NOTCH. From start to finish the Kruse Team worked hard and did everything they could to bring our home to life, in a world where supplies, materials and labor are in short supply and enough back orders to drive anyone mad, Dan was very patient and up-front about anything that had to be changed he wouldn't just cut corners as he said "We need to do it right no shortcuts".
Also I would like to say that behind every great builder like Dan is a group of hand selected vendors he trusts his reputation with and not one of them disappointed, they all made the process smooth and fun and were all experts in the fields.
